J599E8 Expanded-Beam Fiber-Optic Connectors (38999 Type)

Expanded beam · ≤ 0.6 dB · 2000 cycles · 38999 shell

J599E8 connectors use expanded-beam optics in a 38999 Series III-type shell: a lens collimates the light from each fiber into a much wider beam, so the halves never touch and dust or vibration have far less effect. They suit multi-channel fiber links that are mated often in dirty, high-vibration environments.

Frequently asked questions

Why expanded beam?

A 30 µm dust particle can block a 9 µm single-mode core, but only shades a small part of an expanded beam. Expanded-beam connectors tolerate dirt and vibration and are easy to clean.

Single-mode or multimode?

Both — tell us fiber type and wavelength.
