From Inquiry to Series Production: Samples and Qualification
Whether you are replacing an existing connector or designing a new one, the path to series production has the same steps.
1. Inquiry
Send the part number you want to match, or your requirements: circuits, current and voltage, environment, mounting, cable and quantity. Drawings and photos help.
2. Configuration and quotation
An engineer proposes a configuration — series, shell size, insert arrangement, finish, backshell — with a drawing and a quotation. Where specifications are not published, we state how they will be tested.
3. Samples built to order
Samples are built from the agreed configuration. If you need independent evidence, we arrange third-party testing to your requirements.
4. Your validation
You test the samples in your equipment — mating with existing parts, environmental tests, assembly trials. For replacements of other brands’ parts, this is where intermating is verified: we propose the matching configuration and supply samples for your mating test.
5. Series production
After approval, the configuration is frozen and production starts. Changes are agreed in writing.
Tips for a fast start
- Send complete part numbers, including suffixes.
- State the tests you will run and the pass criteria.
- Give annual quantity and target dates.
- Tell us about your end use; we supply civil and industrial applications and screen orders for export compliance.
